General intermitant starting proplem

this will get you thinking ,just changed starter motor on my marea 1.9 td as it sounded tired,(168,000) new recone starter went to start battery sounded dead or very low as in starter just clicked and interior light dimmedright just for luck tried again vroom it started no proplem ,now it has done this a few times now and it's p###ing me off,there are nothing out of the norm dashboad wise all is ok and it has new glow plugs it does it hot or cold now could it be an engine earth proplem or am i missing something

yeah it sounds terminal, better fit a 20vT, that should sort it

if it wasnt happening before i'd be pointing my finger at a dodgy starter, get it replaced/refunded?

sadly no it was happening before thats why i replaced starter,and hi bulldog

check the battery terminals are clean and also check the earth strap from gearbox to chassis is not frayed or corroded, especially at the mouting points.

well believe it or not bulldog hit the nail on the head dodgy ebay starter,striped it tonight and freed up the shaft with the dog on the end,main shaft it now moves fingers crossed it works ok tomorrow any one know what the black box next to battery is it's not the one in front with the fuses in but the one at the back below bulkhead side ,think i have seen one on a pug td but not sure

well it did'nt work put old one back and touch wood(grabbing my head) it's working after a good clean up ,thanks for the diagram evil marea is that on the work shop manual that you can get on ebay:idea:

90% of the info is the same for the marea, however someone on the forum did give me a copy of the actual marea manual on PDF. i lost it in january when my laptop was reformatted.
