General Interior light earth

Hi Folks

Another wiring question.

I have a long wire that is probably the earth for the interior light in the rear view mirror. Where does that earth to?

Tim,

if its black and just long enough to reach the switch in the drivers door frame near the top hinge then its the wire that goes to the switch in the drivers door frame near the top hinge..........

The interior light has a permenant feed of 12V coloured purple - the black wire goes to the pin switch in the drivers door

Also the interior light mounting acts as an earth for the light when the doors are closed.if you have the wire out of it's place i.e not in the A pilar running down to the door as i had.i attached a string to a washer,fed the washer into the hole by the int light and then with a strong magnet(working from on top of the car,cos below are seams in the bodywork) pull the magnet down to the e gine bay..(put a cloth on the magnet to stop it scraching the paintwork...
