re: 1.6 MAP Sensor?

I had similar symtoms with a 1.9 jtd multiwagon. It turned out to be the turbo input pipe which had a poor seal at its join just above the air cleaner. Someone had used plastic cable tie to join it instead of a quick release clip or jubilee clip (See arrow in diagram). I didnt find out until it came of all together and pissed oil everwhere. Once a jubille had been used the sound went back to normall and the turbo started to work properly.

Hissing noise from my 1.9 JTD

Hello,
I am encountering a hissing noise from my Stilo 1.9 jtd when accelerating. I suspect it may be a turbo linked problem, anyone any ideas?

Re: Hissing noise from my 1.9 JTD

what about JTD 80 ? I think mine does exactly the same and there is no intercooler. hissing always when the turbo kicks in and dark smoke under hard acceleration.

Re: Hissing noise from my 1.9 JTD

I'm panicking a bit reading this thread; I have a '07 Multijet with around 65k miles on the clock and I can hear a slight whooosh sound when accelerating from 2k RPM onward if I open the window. The car doesn't smoke, neither when starting or under hard acceleration (you also can't hear this whoosh with the windows closed). I always thought that slight whoosh is normal when the turbo starts sucking air?
Could I have a split pipe or am I worrying too much? I also haven't noticed any loss of power, but on the other hand I only made 2500 miles since my purchase; the car also reaches it's top speed fairly easy, if that makes any difference (around 136mph - should it go faster?).

I know this post has been around for a while, but I just came across it.

I have a 2005 (54) Fiat Stilo 1.9 JTD (115bhp) and mine has been hissing/gushing air for quite some time.
I have found out where the problem is, and it is the Intercooler to Manifold pipe. It is cause by the pipe rubbing on the wheelarch on the passenger side, you can find it by putting on full left lock on the steering and you can find the pipe just behind the wheelarch where the 2 different parts meet.

Just paid £56.38 from my Fiat dealership.
Someone in an earlier post has posted a picture of the intercooler and it is the #2 part which is the intercooler to manifold. Fiat call the part the 'Flex Sleeve'.
