No, if you can't afford to do something properly, don't do it - simples.

If you're any age, never mind just youngsters, and can't afford to insure a car, let alone run it, tax it, repair it, etc etc etc then you should be walking/taking the bus.

i can afford tax (£125), running costs etc. but over £3000 for insurance, i dont think so

Peter, that's what we're trying to say - insurance companies don't like young male drivers. So if you wait a couple of years, the insurance will be soooo much cheaper for you.

It almost sounds like it's cheaper for you to get a taxi for your nights out instead of driving.

just read the latest on the forum. sounds like everyone else here was gifted with money from an early age.

Your going about this all wrong mate.

Ill admit that my family is quite well off, so yeah parents did buy me my first car.

But i have paid for the rest, working just a sunday job due to playing basketball on saturdays and nights in the week after sixth form.

Now into second driving year, and forked out jus under £3000 for the 2 years insurance, aswell as all running costs.

If you cant afford it dont skimp out on important bits, a few friends havent got the luxury to be able to afford to drive.

look at it this way, everybody does something illegal. i bet at least one of you that has frowned upon me has smoked weed, and is that not illegal. and im sure MOST of you have littered. again illegal.

Quite the opposite really. Brought up in a single parent family on a council estate with very little. Didnt have driving lessons until i could afford to pay for my own when i was 20 ... while at university and paying my own fees for that matter.

Point is i work extremly hard for the things i want and need and work even harder to do them properly - for example being a car owner.
Working that little bit harder, giving up those few nights out and waiting until certin things go on sale is very little to give up for the piece of mind of having my one biggest asset and investment fully protected.

 but thats self harm at worst, petty crime even. None of your examples put others lives so needlessly at risk as driving while un-insured or fronting. People are trying to help steer you Peter, so you dont foobar your life completely. Its about taking responsibility.

hello sarah. am i correct in saying i think you smoke weed. at least monthly basis.

NO YOU ARE COMPLETLY WRONG

I have never ever touched the stuff and for your information i am extremly anti-drugs and work hard within my university on various anti-drug campaigns

Just because i am young doesnt mean i am stupid. Why would i waste my money on something as destructive as drugs?

haha, was hoping to hit a nerve. "never touched drugs", who believes that.

why wouldnt you believe it? probably too doped up and paranoid to believe anything i suppose?

And i would prefer it if you wouldnt make wild accusations about me ... especially when they are so far from the truth its ridiculous.
