Re: insurance

Fiat grande punto t jet
no mods yet
22 with 3 years no claims
£370

Quoted £450 if I was to get
Induction
Lowered
Exhaust system

And adding remap made it £520

With admiral multi car and parents as named drivers

Re: insurance

20 (well, when I took it out anyway), no NCB, with Elephant (so, Admiral), £597 ;)
Declaring my springs added (excluding the £30 admin fee) a whopping... £1.90 for the rest of the year!

The right additional drivers plus having licence at least 2 years I've found are the major factors in bringing insurance down. That and losing the teen suffix to your age.

Ive found what job you do can make a big difference,

Im 28, drive a t jet, 4 yrs NCB, North Notts......£260 fully comp with business use, £150 excess

I hold a driving qualification roughly equal to IAM examiner through work which practically halved my premium

What driving qualification is that out of interest? :)

Re: insurance

The right additional drivers

Don't underestimate the difference this can makes. I'm substantially older than most of you have declared, and having my partner as a named driver still saves me a significant amount on the policy every year. And a year can easily go by when she won't drive the car!

Personally, I'd never go direct on insurance - always use a broker for the best deal. Best value isn't always the cheapest, although there's usually very little difference between the two. A good broker can really help when it comes to completing the application in the most honest manner that will give you the best result. Any mods or anything out of the unusual, then definitely go to a specialist broker.

Other way around for me. I'm cover focused, not price, brokers cover is often not as good as going direct. Can also complicate things come claims time with some brokers. Although they can be good if you need a specialist policy.

That's why I distinguish between cheapest and best value. You can always get it cheaper by increasing the excess or reducing the cover, but that's unlikely to be the best value in the long run.

It depends on your broker, I found a good one and he makes life much easier.. sorting out car, house, travel, etc.. The new quotes are all prepared and summarised before I get sent the reminder.

I'm 19, grande punto active 1.2, no NCB yet, only mod is a headunit...I pay £2500 a year! Churchill is the company btw.

21 year old male, supermarket assistant (just graduated and looking for a career), 3 years NCB, 59 reg T-Jet with optional extra alloys, BMC panel filter, TMC tuning box, all declared for £500 fully comp up to 7000 miles per year. Admiral multicar.

Though they tried asking for a renewal price of £760 for the car as standard initially! A simple new online quote soon sorted this and saved over £700 in total over the 4 cars insured on the multicar policy. Daylight robbery for anybody who doesn't shop around or try a new quote with their existing company first.

Where are you located out of interest? This can make a large difference for people.
