HI,

I just had a coil changed and had it back only 2 days and the dials on the dashboard have stopped working (speedo stuck on 30, petrol gauge down to 0 and clock display not on).

All the warning lights don't come on at all except for the airbag failure light which remains on permanently, the car is running normally but the whole dashboard is unresponsive

Any ideas? :(

just the obvious first check have you tried removing the dials and checking the connections as far as im aware they should only go on one way but it may be worth checking that they are fully clipped in!! do the lights on the dials work?

Its very strange as one minute they were working, whilst I was driving then the next time I looked they weren't.

The lights on the dials don't work either, just curious to see whether changing a coil would interfere with the dashboard lights, the garage says it shouldn't, got the car booked in for wednesday

in that case it must be a bad conncection or a blown fuse try checking the suggested fuses or pop to some where like your local hafords ask at the audio desk if they could run a multi meter over your diaLS CHECK IF THERE IS POWER THERE OR NOT !! IF NOT DEFO A FUSE OR burned out cable .. sorry for caps hit it by accident!

Thanks, will try and go to halfords tomorrow and see what happens

although if the airbag failure light is on, I'm guessing there is power somewhere

latest development - I went to start my car to see if any change in lights and now car won't even start, I turned the key to start the car and it just clicks.

The interior light is working and the airbag failure light comes on but nothing else.

How would the battery be dead if it was working fine earlier. I have had a lot of problems with this car, my older punto gave me no problems!

is it trying to tick over or literally clicking?

if its just clicking - loads could be either the battery (maybe accidently left something on or a bad connection is sending electric when it shouldnt and shorting stuff out!!
- it could also be that the starter motor is jammed try rocking the car a little back and forwards then try it again !!

if its trying to strat .i.e geting close but not going try to also rock the car a little and see what happens if not try to get some one to jump start the car!! could be that the alternator is going and cant maintain charge. or once again a bad connection shorting out .. or .. have you wired in anything new. i .e new stereo led lights anything !! if so check thats its not wired in a on a pernmanent live that will also drain the battery more than its used to a dependant on what it is could be enough to empty the battery relatively fast !!

haven't installed anything new since september when I put in a new stereo, there is nothing else that stays on to drain the battery

when I turned the key to ignition, it wasn't even trying to tick over just a click

I jump started it and it started straight away but the airbag failure light remains on, I drove it to halfords to get the battery checked and they said battery is ok, It can now start up on its own, so am just waiting for tomorrow morning to see if it will start. fingers crossed
