General Installing head unit problem!

The earlier post is correct, the yellow needs to be switched to the red.

If you look on the loom from the HU to the blocks where the stilo plugs in, on the yellow and red wires there is a part to seperate them and then join them together. this is off memory and its 8 months since i last did an install for someone.

If your still struggling i'll remove my head unit after and get some pics for ya.

Right lads i think i may need a bloke who knows what hes doing to install this, after having another try i realised i was pissing in the dark :(

Oh hold on i think i know what i have to do. I have to swap the red and yellow cables in the HU loom dont i. I did notice the power cable wasnt hitting the other so i swapped it with the black, still didnt work but i now realise the black is the ground. Ill swap the red and yellow 2moro and try YET again :)

hi mate had the same problem as you with my alpine, in the end i took it to halfords who made it work......the red should be connected to the red, and then the yellow on the cd player connected to the pass-through on the red, you will see what i mean by pass-through as where the reds are connected together there is a spare red plug. let me know if you have any problems.

Just to confirm . . .

You can't have ignition switching on Stilo's without Connect Nav previously installed. This is because the "Ignition ON" signal is sent via the CAN line and not on a dedicated wire as per standard ISO looms. However, vehicles with the Sat Nav previously installed will have this wire as it is required to force the Nav to boot up.

Therefore, the yellow (Ignition) and Red (Permanent) feeds on a radio loom should be connected together, so that both are constantly receiving a feed; in otherwords, the stereo will think the ignition is always on.

Hope that helps :D

You only need to swap the battery live and the ignition live (Yellow and Red) over to get it to work with the fiat loom.

Or try red and yellow from the head unit together into the battery live.
