Installing a Subwoofer/DVD Player?

Hi all...

I'm looking to install a subwoofer on the Bravo I'm buying, and I will be putting a Pioneer DEH-1630R headunit in there. On the headunit, at the rear, there is a phono output (input?) which I think is the AUX input? It does say on the box that it has a 'pre out' is this what I'm looking for for the Sub? I can't seem to find a socket however, apart from a black one that would seem to fit a 1/8" jack.

Alternatively, I might buy a DVD player that fits in the dash, but don't know how easy it would be to mount the screen?

Any help or advice is appreciated!

Is it maybe a sub-out I need? It just says a 'pre-out'...

you need an output for a sub. a subout or pre out are fine, you plug these into an amp then the amp into the speaker. If you are using the preout then make sure the amp has a low pass filter which will need to be switched on, if the you are using the sub out you do not need to worry about the low pass filter on the amp as the head unit will do it for you.

Thanks for the reply. I was under the impression I didn't need an amp? I don't want a massive booming sound that you will be able to hear from miles away (and therefore getting pulled by the Policia).

What does the pre-out look like on the head unit? I've got a phono input (I think, red & white stereo) and a black socket, and a few other holes...

shouldn't your eyes be on the road and not watching DVDs as you drive?

you will need an amp as the subout or preout is only a signal, there is no power there. If it is a preout it will look like your red and white photo, if it is a sub out it will look like a phono but there will probably only be one of them.

You will need pre outs in your radio and a amp for your sub,

I have a full JBL and toxic setup with a centurian dvd player and in dash screen
