i bought a chipbox:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/11089745021...em=&sspagename=ADME:X:AAQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr

and am about to install it on my 1.3 MJ. where is the plug on the end of the fuel rail located as you are looking at the engine from the front? left side? or in the middle?

i guess what i really need to know is how to pull up the air filter housing complex on the top of the engine, because then i could access everything. it looks to me like there's 2 really big rubber tension grommets in the front and then some kind of "shoe-in" fastner in the back. are there any youtube links for how to do this? ar advice.

i tested the rubber tension brommets in the front by pulling up pretty hard but they werent budging...i stopped becuase maybe there are other fastners i dont know about.

thx!

whoops....i kept searching toutube and found this video for a 2012 punto w/1.3MJ.

looks the same layout as my 2013 fiorinno/qubo except that our MAF line feed is on the left side as you are facing the engine straight on. this one is on the right.

so the MAF line (from fresh air side) line gets unscrewed while the other one is just pulled loose (to engine combustion side).

my rubber grommets didnt break free as easy as this one, maybe i will WD40 them first.

I've just watched the video of the install of the tuning box and i can't believe what was going on, bubble wrap and cable ties what a joke.
My tuning box is mounted in a water proof box off ebay and bolted to the bulkhead.
The connections are all water proofed and rapt in loom tape so it all looks standard.
If i took my car/van to a tuning shop and saw that install under the bonnet I'd want my money back.

"If i took my car/van to a tuning shop and saw that install under the bonnet I'd want my money back"

LOL!

mine is just temp mounted near front right side where its cool. for now while i test it.

the instructions say that chip (the chips effects) wont be fully integrated into the car's computer until 200 kilometers and3-4 complete cold to hot back to cold operations.

luigi: any idea how these things actually work to effect power and MPG efficiency changes? since the chip boxes mount in-line with the fuel pressure sensor on the rail, it must just be a matter of modifying the pressures?

Im thinking of this diesel tuning box , if anyone knows/used it, please give some advise.
I read many feedbacks about that ( many were good but few were that these tuning chips do nothing/or destroy the machine ). So im thinking of it... to be or not to be?

Now i read about tuningbox, and they say its the top of its kind and has real warranty etc. So any knowledge of this two, will be helpful.. I dont know the price, but i suppose it will be expensive..

maybe luigi could sound off better on this, but my understanding is that these chip boxes are more alike than they are different...they all manage the pressures of fuel to the rail to accomplish 2 things: more power and better fuel efficiency. further, they have some kind of "tuning pot" where you can refine the settings from the default set at the factory.

with this in light, i would buy on price not reputation.

sorry to hijack the thread, I was contemplating one of these, Luigi, where did you get yours from? sounds like a neater kit?

Also what is it like once fitting? performance / mpg?

I actually found mine on ebay for £60, a guy had it on a 500, the company is called CHIP EXPRESS
mpg at the moment using bp ultimate is 53.1,and thats not driving light footed
The chip has settings 1,2,3, i'm on 2
Noticed the difference straight away, pulls hard, top speed is 115 @ 4100rpm
Does'nt like 5 gear under 2.000rpm

Well, its a tuning box, but i can't give you any comments on this tuning box, mine retails at around £350 from EXPRESS CHIP.
I did research a lot of company's and EXPRESS CHIP was one of my must haves i was just lucky in that the one on ebay came up when it did.
Personally i would only stick to proper places with a man on the other end of the phone and a company you can visit if necessary.
Remember, if it damages your engine what are you going to do? will chip box company support you,or help you?
See if you can speak to the company first, ask if they make the chip box or are they shipped in from another source, and is there full support and backup.

Hi Luigi, will any if these boxes work with dualogic gearboxes?

can't see any reason why not,but i would check with the chip box company to be on the safe side.
like i said in my last post, make sure you can get full back up,and actually speak to someone on the phone.

my chip works fine with dualogic mode. i have a light foot and my mpg's went from 51 to 56.5 mpgs (or 5.5 liters/100km down to 5.0).

the power band, when you do step on it, it significant.

i dont see any way that one of these could damage an engine. all they do it modify the pressure inside the fuel rail so fuel is burned more efficiently.

im the OP and i put the link in the very first post. i checked its still working. also price is still what i paid $125 with free shipping. i like it. i mounted it in very front of rt front fender, in the very front of the car, beside the rt headlamp assembly, inside a square metal molding support. here it is dry and away from engine heat.
