Technical Input Shaft Bearing Renewal Mk1

Hi all,
Following Mr Wild's post for the Mk2 Punto I wanted to know if it's the same to change the mk1 punto's input shaft bearing in the gearbox?

Do you have to take the engine out as well or does the gearbox just pull away?
And are the bearings the same size as the mk2?

engine needs supporting bit once all the bits are removed it dose just slide out with a bit of a wiggle I took my box out on me own
