inlet studs

Hi I'm looking for studs and nuts to attach the inlet manifold to my 1.2 16v and theres no way im paying fiat over £70 for them!! lol
is anyone breaking one or know where I can get them?
I need M7 x 1.00 studs and nuts quantity 10

am sure they are m8 even if the nuts take a 12mm spanner

nope certainly not on this engine, its out of a punto sporting 1.2 16v 6speed
definatly m7 x1.00 and takes 11mm socket to undo the nuts
the exhaust mani has m8 studs though

hmm i have a dead head in shed off one i think,

heads in the shed, does look like m7 holes no studs left in them though, you may be able to just replace with m7 bolts instead, still not easy size to get hold of

Try Big Mick at eurocarcare in Derby on 01332 345869. They'll be cheaper than FIAT, anyway. I have a sneaking suspicion that modern Frauds use 7mm studs, so that might be another avenue to go down.

You could probably get a set made in stainless for 70 quid!

How about using a set of suitable bolts threaded all the way along?
With the nut close to the head, saw the head off and slowly work the nut over the sawed off edge.
Better still if you have the room to work, with the nuts on the bolt, use the heads to tighten them into the block first then cut off the heads.

M7 bolts are not exactly easy to come by. If doing it this way, at least use a die to clean off the fubared thread (put the die on before you insert the bolt!).

But a visit to a scrappy should get you plenty -- use the old locknut trick to remove the studs, or buy a stud extractor.
