Hey,

I have a Fiat Bravo Mk1 1.4SX.
Nice car, I enjoy it greatly.

Im wanting more performance from it though,
or increase mpg would be nice :)

I know all about the Ecotek but am still a bit nervous.

I would go with an induction kit, but ive heard some bad things. About hot air/cold air.....

What is the best kit to buy for my car?
Do I need a cold feed pipe thing?

Sorry but amateur when it comes to mechanics!!

Thanks!

Pipercross do a kit for the 1.4.
Check www.bravo-guide.co.uk under the modifications section for the product code.

I'd be very doubtful that you'll notice any change in performance, but it will sound a lot better.
Hot air's bad for an engine, the colder it is the better.
So if you can get some flexi-pipe from Halfords and use this as cold air ducting.

I'm an amateur with a 1.4 too!

You won't gain performance, not enough to notice, but it will give the car a better sound and it'll help you to make the monster less consuming

Pipercross makes the best one for your engine

I've also got a 1.4, currently running a Green induction kit, very nice sounding.

Si,

Question: at the moment, i just followed the instruction that come with the induction kit, i.e. take existing air filter pipe of and connect induction kit.

Where would i run the cold pipe to ? are you suggesting putting the filter closer to the front bumper or something ?

Re: induction kit

does the induction kit make the lovely noise? - i believe it was si's or sy's i heard at gaydon sounds sweet!! - i assume the one made for the bravo 1.4 fits me lovely brava?! - just checking so i know! - are they expensive? and where is the best place to get them from? - seriously thinking of buying one!!

Re: Re: induction kit

It was Si's HGT POND that made the lovely growl through Gaydon car park. Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Re: Re: Re: induction kit

sorry wimmy, but thats means nothing to me - does the induction kit make that noise? - if so which is it - or is it what si has done specifically to his motor?
cheers mate

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: induction kit

Yeah that was my car.
The noise you hear is basically the engine, the induction kit just makes it a bit more verbal!
It's the 5-cylinders on the HGT that gives it the beautiful growl, so you'll not get quite the same noise on your brava.

And just to clarify, the more cold air you can get to the filter the better, so yes if you can get a cold air feed in from somewhere in the bumper pointing to the filter, then it should feed it a nice stream of air.
Some people have even cut holes in the front wings of their cars to have the induction kit pointing out through this in a direct stream of air.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: induction kit

About that flexible pipe to the PiperX... Do you fit the opening right in front of the filter or over it??

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: induction kit

Fit it so it's about 20cm from the filter so it blows cold air around the whole filter, not just at one spot.
