how easy is it to fit an induction kit to a hgt 147? also does it make a big difference?
just seen one for about £87 inc ****, is this about right or can you get them cheaper than that?
cheers

I've just been in Halfords of all places and they've just quoted me £75. for a Pipercross version.
It even comes with a great big bit of Samco hose. Well worth the money!!
Fittings pretty esay and the kit comes with colour photos and written instructions.
Any problems e-mail me and i can talk you through it.

Re: Re: induction kit

si,
thanks for the info and offer of help. it might get while after christmas when i'm looking to fit one so i may take you up on that offer then - if it still stands.
is the kit in halfords a universal kit or is it specifically for a bravo?
do they keep them in stock or do they have to order them?
does an induction kit really make that much difference - the k&n website reckons about 5-10 bhp, is that about right or are they bullshitting?
why don't performance cars come with an air induction kit already fitted?
sorry about all the questions!
Cheers
Gareth

and i almost forgot

what's all this about the noise an induction kit makes - does it sound meatier or what?

Re: and i almost forgot

Induction kits do increase performance a little as it lets more air through (Also colder the better). The noise they make is a larger suction noise, like the tone from a turbo but a **** load less.

Re: and i almost forgot

The pipercross kit has been developed for the Bravo HGT. You can also get similar kits from the likes of K&N, Green, Ramair etc, although the Pipercross is regarded by many as the best.
If my car is fixed in time i'll take you for a drive in it at the crimbo meet.
Performance wise you'll lose some of the low end torque. i.e. the car won't pull as well from low revs that to say until the revs get above 3,000rpm. But once above the 3,000rpm figure, my god does it make a difference!!
Noise wise it's louder but makes the 5-cylinder engine sound glorious. Everyone whos been a passenger in my car (except perhaps my gran) loves the noise.
If my car isn't fixed in time Riclemus might be pursuaded to take you for a drive as he has a K&N induction kit on his.

Re: Re: and i almost forgot

Sorry, forgot to mention. Delivery time is usually about 5 days.
The question about them not being fitted to performance cars i'm not sure about. I've always wondered why this isn't done, although I did notice at the motorshow that the Noble comes with 2 as standard.

They sound great

I can confirm they sound great, I have one on my HGT and it makes a big difference. I believe that the main reason they don't put them on performance cars as standard is that they would not pass the noise regulations in many places.
