indash dvd player

ok so my car had a dvd player fitted but its a bit crap, thing is i cant get the dvd part to work. i know it needs a feed into it from the handbrake light switch but is it pos or neg? im only asking because im thinking of fitting it into the back somewhere for my daughter to watch, thanks in advance

ye they dont usually work unless the handbrake is up and there is generally a wire you need to connect up but i found with mine if i connected it str8 to the live or negative cant remember which one it was now but the dvd worked str8 away then

Yeah just earth the wire that your supposed to connect to the handbrake.

cheers for that, unfortunately theres a fault in the dvd player. it accepts discs but then its doing absolutely nothing... in the bin i think

yep it is the earth, i originally connected mine to the hand brake, i have 2 monitors in the back, but soon found that we couldnt navigate the menus unless i stopped and put a film on then restarted. we now just turn of the main screen when im driving so we stay within the law.
