Technical Immobiliser making me immobile.

Starting up in the morning, ignition normal but no start on key turn. Then I notice a light that isn't normally on, the immobiliser.
Changed keyfob battery, no difference. Tried moving the steering wheel position (saw suggestion on a forum) no change. basic obd reader not showing anything.
A common theme I've read is a bad grounding cable somewhere, but can't figure out which one exactly.
Any thoughts?

If you have a second key try that.
