Ive always been a lover of the bravo. Ive owned a 1.4 and then got myself a JTD 100 but i am really thinking about getting rid.

Since i bought the JTD from "Scottie Motive" from this forum ive had to do the following:

New steering rack
New front wiper motor
New clutch
Had to get the top of the engine rebuilt after it randomly seized

Now, im waiting on insurance, so i can fix my front end after minor bump, ive been informed i need a new radiator, my glow plugs are playing up AND yesterday whilst my car was parked at work, someone has scraped it and done off!

Im really fed up, should i keep her?

the bump you had and the scrape at work could have happened whatever the car was that you own so dont take these into consideration. The parts you have replaced should mean that the car will be like new mechanically so i would think that you should be able to run the car for a good few years without a problem and lets face it what other car is there with the lines of the bravo

As above really, you've put alot of money into the mechanical aspect of your Bravo so it should be good for another few years. Bodywork damage was under your ownership. Okay scottemotive sold you a bit of a Banana but i presume its all been rectified now. If you do sell the next owner wont have much to sort out as you've done most of it.

Stu, i know exactly how you feel mate, Patch has been of the road for 2 months and hopefully will be back up and running by the end of the weekend, its just had its tenth gear box and clutch and the top end is being rebuilt after the head gasket had ever so slowly died on me...

in the 3 years ive owned her i would honestly think shes only been on the road for 2, maybe at the very very very most 2 and a half years, but i keep going

ive just bought her some goodies aswell that will be fitted for brooklands. the plan is now all the new bits and repairs have been done it should be sweet (well the engine anyway, the gearboxes are my fault and ive just got to behave from now on)

ive spent wayyy too much on just keeping her on the road, let alone sorting the body work (patch by name, patch by nature...)but i keep going

keep your faith, as the others have said, with what youve spent so far you should now have a plenty reliable car underneath you

chin up stu, even if you were to get rid once you look around theres nothing that can touch the looks etc of the bravo in the same price bracket....stick with it

Stu... we are a family of 2 JTD.. 1 is loved and the other.. well there is another :)

Both are running perfect.. and ok they may need a new part here and there.. but from the sounds of it.. you've had them all in 1 go.. so should be ok now for many a moons!!

Chin up chap.. and if u need a JTD part get in touch cos there is a local breaker who has most bits :)

stu, i can understand your a bit peeved and fed up, but ive spent more than the cars worth purely in gearboxes in 3 years... then clutches ontop, labour, etc etc etc.... id love to be you in some respects. the way i see it now is that ive spent that much on her i might aswell get my moneys worth, i know that im the reasoon the gear boxes go and ive either got to sort it, or buy more.... (do you know of any going btw... lol)

replaced injectors
replaced battery
replaced alternator
need new cat
had to have headlights re -wired

it just seems my week's wage is goin into my bank and then going on my car

i have good brakes! do you have good insurance?

Just luck sometimes.

My Bravo was a shed but it got me about for 2 years and 16k miles and only cost me £300 in the 2 years.

Problems on it were:
- Leaking sunroof
- Clutch judder when pulling off on cold/wet mornings
- Gear box trouble getting 1st, and sometimes 2nd gear
- Creased dent near petrol cap
- Doors frozen solid on winter mornings
- Heaters blowing hot air all the time
- Rear wiper not working

Had all these problems for the whole 2 years, but still loved every minute I owned it. In the end it got tedious and I traded it in.

get rid and buy a proper bravo lol get a hgt go on treat your self

im too tight!! thats why i went from a 1.4 to a jtd!! thats why all these bills are killing me! Thanks for all the responses, its nice that people are about to offer a bit support! I'll really have to get down to a meet and supply some steaks for a barbie!

Tommy, if you can source me a JTD 100 radiator cheap id really apreciate it! But dont worry if you cant!

Stu

Does sound like you bought a lemon. I'm in same boat so know where you coming from.

Only had mine 3 weeks and have spent just under a grand in maintenance and repairs lol.

TD100 so hoping it'll last me!

If you get the problems sorted and get good usage out of it you'll be happy ultimately.
