General Illegal Speedo/Disply

I read in a 500 review of the possibility that the display may be illegal on some cars.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

The Sport dials are different to the Pop/Lounge dials. You get used to it, but at first the Pop/Lounge dials are a tad tricky to read
