HI guys need help to remove the ignition as it wont turn to park. I removed the lower panel. Place the key to the on position, pushed in the tooth but the barrel will not budge and the key pulls out. What and I doing wrong. This is the last thing for the MOT.

put the key in the ignition, dont turn it just slide it in, then push the black button in and turn the key backwards, all that does is turn on a parking light why has this failed your mot??

The key wont turn backwards with the black button pushed in. I'm also starting to have problems turning the key to start the engine.
I always thought a car had to have operational parking lights to pass an mot.

Thanks for the reply.

many apologies i have had a look and yes you do require an operational parking light, however 99.9% of garages dont check it, as for your problem it does sound like the barrel is on its way out, do you have a spare key if you do try it with that too check the key you are using isnt worn, as for changing the barrel im not sure on multiplas as havent had to do one yet, but will try and dig some more info up for you.

okay sorted that one. Hooked a bent screwdriver into the lock and pulled the barrel out that way. I removed the pins from the barrel so the key turns with ease.

No they still need my key with the code built in. My normal key without the code will turn the engine but it will not start.
