Ever since I bought my Stilo I've been having lots of fun with it's gearbox. It's a 2007 JTD 16v 150 sporting with a 6 speed box. To cut a long story short, the gearbox was starved of oil at the time I bought it and I payed £2150 to have another box sourced and rebuilt by a (so called) specialist (another long story). The specialist had a huge amount of difficulty in sourcing another gearbox (I guess because most Stilo's are 5 speed). It took about 3 months to find one I think!
SO, joy of joy's - a couple of months after the warranty ran out the 'new' gearbox has become noisy.
Rather than hand over another £2150 for a 'specialist' to loose the plastic belly pan and return the car with horrendous idle vibrations and gearbox oil pouring from bellhousing, I thought I'd try to source a gearbox myself and change it.
From some searching of the net for Fiat and Alfa gearboxes I have found nothing that looks the same as I have. There is a Lancia logo on the casing so it's not the GM box that is fitted to some Alfa's.
Please can anyone name any other cars the use the same 6 speed box? I believe the 150bhp Stilo is fairly rare in the UK (like 100 or so).
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
