Finally grabbed a replacement IDC-A09 from eBay, used, boxed and supposedly tested (Cash converters) wasn't going to bother trying again but spied it & put in an offer for £20 which was accepted, and at £5 return postage if no good, thought it was worth a punt! (See what I did there?!)

Presuming it will need a code somehow (& wont be in the box) or would I need to change the mainboard? Problem being with my current one that one of the side screws is badly rounded off and pretty damn stuck (guessing previous owner tried & failed with it too) so haven't even been able to get into it as yet.

Failing the replacement has anyone spotted a single din plate cover anywhere with Aux and possibly USB ports that could somehow be wired up? Tried searching but obviously as soon as you enter DIN usb or aux just brings up stereos. Seems something that would have been covered by someone

Really want to stick with the stock CD player to keep things simple, keep steering controls, & not leave an empty din slot (also gave away a decent Kenwood headunit recently) so being stubborn about not getting another!

Cheers!

Hi.
It shouidnt be coded as such.
Its your main head unit ..radio/CD. Player..that pairs up with it.
If its had a CD changer already it should just be plug & play..

i think they are paired up at factory so may well not talk to radio already fitted via canbus
happy to be proved wrong mind

Hope you are too! :D Though could be right, I don't think the one I have atm is actually the original so could also be why its not finding it, says Punto/Silver in marker on the side so think it was a replacement. If that's not the original mainboard in there anyway guess I'm out of luck :(

There are several different versions of the IDC-A09 CD changer. Each has different internal software to enable it to communicate with different car manufacturer's radios.

The Fiat version is part number 7607769150, Peugeot Citroen version is 7607769050 etc.

There is also a generic version (7607769100) that may work, albeit with limited functionality, with all Blaupunkt radios.

Unless the previous owner decoded it while still connected to his car and radio, it will probably need a code.

Brilliant thanks for that! Should have really asked for the part number before dropping in the bid, but fingers crossed! If not will probably just relist it on eBay.

Thanks again

They are normally not coded to the radio when supplied new. Code only needed if the original owner entered the code to lock it to his radio.

Connection procedure is quite important as doing it wrong can cause them to fail.

Disconnect the radio power plug.
Then plug in the CD changer to the radio.
Reconnect the radio power plug.

So the Changer is already connected to the radio when it gets power, as the permanent live to the radio goes through to the changer. Strangely, if the radio already has power when the changer is connected, this can cause the changer to fail, refusing to communicate with the radio. It is then usually dead, until it sees a repairer. This is in the instructions somewhere. (Been there, done that)

Perfect thanks! Will make sure I do! Just hoping it'll be one that talks at all at the moment, interestingly google searching the citroen/peugeot serial number brings up the variant with the rounder buttons, so hoping it at least rules that one out!

Has just arrived. Looks like its the generic model with part no 7607 769 100 will hook it up now and see if it whirs. Interestingly comes with the card for a code with no code on it!

Worked straight out of the box, no code required, box is old and worn but the actual unit looks like its never been used, so may have just got lucky! :)

Above is a pic of the old one's connection block, looks like the connector was spliced into an aux cable, so could be the reason why it couldn't find it, so will likely be heading to the tip unless anyone wants it for parts!

Thanks for all your help!
