Hello all at FiatForum,

I have a Stilo JTD that i recently purchased. 3 door, yellow; love it (y)!

The problem i have is wiring my amp/sub into the car. I have looked at the guides to help with this and have wired the amp in.

My problem is (i think) that my remote wire is not turning the amp on.

I followed a guide to wire my head unit from the cigarette lighter wire, and the headunit now turns on with the ignition (perfect). This wire is then scotch-locked to my amp as the remote.

My question is:
Is the wire from the cigarette lighter that turns on the stereo with the ignition the same wire as i should be using for my remote?

I have wired up many subs/amps in many cars before, and am sure that all the other wiring is correct, and this is the only thing i can imagine the problem to be.

Thanks, Zack

Okay thanks, so using the cigarette ignition wire for the stereo and my amp remote should work?

I thought it was right but wanted to check before i pull back up the trim to check the wires.

On another note is it okay to wire the power cable for my amp to any nut on the positive of the battery or do i have to use a certain one?

Don't use a nut that is fused. You have to use one that has bare metal from the pole, and then add an in-line fuse.

Dont know if the picture will display correctly but i have used the nut on the top left hand corner, seems to be alone however i think it may be on the 'wong side' of the brown fuse.

Could this be why my amp doesn't power on when i turn the ignition/engine on? I have an inline fuse on the power cable already

Problem solved, bit embarrasing but it was my fault for not checking the connections properly. My problem was that the blade connector i used to link to remote to the ignition wire didnt 'pierce' the wires. Crappy blade connectors blunt as a sausage, thats what you get from halfords. I wired them together and bladed them, wrapped them in electrical tape and all is well.

Took the advice and moved the power cable though, incase any fuses blow for example.

Thanks for the help even though it was my mistake lol

I have a pic you may enjoy Morty as you are a stealth sort of guy.

You see where you have routed your cable past the spare ANL fuse. Mine is taken up by a 150 amp ANL rather than using an inline fuse that looks unsightly.

Spare ANL? If you you have a JTD there can't be room for other ANL (flat) fuses are there?

I see you have a non-standard battery, have you got two + poles?

Here's a new picture of my layout.

The pic below shows where my aftermarket fuse is for the ICE cable.

Yeah its got 2 poles which was an absolute godsend. The seating position using the OE connection was totally wrong so doing what we have made a brilliant alternative. That does remind me that i have still forgoten to braid it.
