Since i installed my sub and amp I have had nothing but problem after problem with it. The re-occuring situation is the squeeky speakers, mainly coming from the 6" x 9"s. I was told this would stop if I moved the main red lead (running from the battery) away from the blue wire (the double wire that runs from the head unit to the amp). However after doing this the squeeling is still occuring so i'm guess it can be a number of things now...

1. Not earthed correctly?
2. Not attatched to batterly correctly?
3. The wires are in need of a change since the plastic is coming away and showing the actual wires?

My most recent problem started yesterday. It a very strange noise, which can only be described as the same sound as when you are tuning into a radio and you half get a channel and it sounds erm 'alien like'. This seems to be coming from my 6" x 9"s.

Can anyone point out the possible, if not the exact problems and give me some ideas on how to correct it.

Thanks in advance....(y)

Check the earth is on bare metal.

Run the RCA's outside the car and see if you still get the problem. as could be picking up interferance form other wires. Especially if the plastic is coming off thats also potentially a fire risk.

Route your remote cable and power cable down one side, and the RCAs down the other. Remove all paint around your earthing point and that should solve it (y)

On another note....................if you really want the 6x9s, and they are in your parcel shelf, then at the very least box them in. If the sub and 6x9s are sharing the same airspace, then you will damage one or the other, most probably the 6x9s.

Have you run your RCA's down the opposite side of the car to the power leads?

Yeah done that, some one on here recommened that to me when the problem first occured.

The 6" x 9"'s are in the parcel shelf, so they aren't sharing the same airspace as the sub.

Well looks like i'll have to buy a new wiring kit then and i'll also remove the paint where the amp is earthed.

Thanks for the help and i'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks again :)

If you have the 6x9s open to the boot space and the sub in the boot, then yes they are sharing the same airspace, i.e. the boot :p

hey, does the noise only happen when you are sitting still or does it happen all the time whislt you are driving?
