God, today is turning out to be one big scream for help for me, huh? Was wondering if anyone could help me out with ICE  i read some posts here, but its hard to follow someimes, when i don't really know if 150W from a speaker is good, or if 4 X50W speakers on ebay(tho cheap) are good?? All id like is a nice sound, with nice sub, but don't know what would actually produce this? :s Could anyone give me some guidelines on going around this stuff?

P.S- Only have standard radio thing in car just now..so will get HU and speakers etc all at once..hopefully with help from here!

The most important thing you need to do first is to decide on your budget, then go from there.

Agreed.

Work out what you want to spend, and what your looking to buy

How Many Subs ?
Rear Shelf speakers?
Upfront Speaker Upgrades ( from car standard ones )

Ooh, i see. Sorry, should have put that in before
Umm, was looking for an MP3 compatible HU
Kinda good front speakers- the standard ones are a little...standard :s
An amp, and maybe a sub?
All in all, have about...400-450max to spend on the sound.

Again im not sure about power etc, this is where i was looking for some help..plus i thought some things might no be suitable for a 1.6sx Bravo..though im not sure what exactly

Again it all depends on what type of music your into and what boot space you want to keep. Also depends if you would consider second hand, coz you can get some amazing bargains from people who upgrade yearly... (y)

Yeah 2nd hand is good. My amp with wiring cost me 30 quid (y)

Oh, sounds good to me! Id like to keep most boot space (go shopping often!) and listen to all sorts of music. Was wondering, were you referring to somewhere in particular i can buy the second hand ice from then? Course id need someone to fit it, but that would be fine.

You shouldn't need to pay someone to install your ICE. Simple enough to most stuff when you've got an idea of what to do. No-one but me and my bro have touched my entire install - HU install, amp install, sub install, the sealed enclosure is self built too cos I didn't like the look of the ready made ones you can buy. If you listen to most types of music then I would recommend a 12 inch sub or 10 inch if you want more boot space (I've got a 10 inch as my boot is only small.)
Local papers, ebay etc. are a good source of 2nd hand stuff. Handy if mates are selling as well - that's how I came across my amp - friend was ripping out his install to sell his car on.

If you're stuck with anything, just ask. One of us is bound to able to help. (y)

Thanx guys, you have no idea how helpful you're being! I think i will give self install a go..was just a bit put off because im not very competent that way...but some extra reading should take care of that! Now, the front speakers...is there a recommended RMS(?) for my needs?(my needs: id like fairly loud, clear music!) And what spec of amp would be best? Thanx again in advance

P.S- I have no idea what size of speakers ill need to replace my standard ones...could i have some help in that area also please?

The higher the RMS, the higher the volume and clarity a speaker can produce. RMS stands for root mean squared. When looking at ICE, always look for the RMS value - peak wattages mean very little. I would have thought speakers that are within your budget are about 50W RMS. Not 100% sure though.
Luke has put a sticky up about speakers in different Fiats. I don't know what size speakers are in a Bravo, it may be best to put up a post in the Bravo section.
Hope this helps (y)

just a suggestion here:

6x9's http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product.asp?product=20650 £50
Amp http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product.asp?product=18948 £140
Sub http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product.asp?product=20733 £60

thats £250 then im not sure on compnent speakers for the front(dont know what fit), i dont know what fit, but if you run them off a headunit at its 50w for about £50ish

that leaves you £100-£150 on a headunit

maybe somehting like this http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product.asp?product=20814 £120 leaves you about £30 on wires for amp etc...

some people will probly dissagree with running the component speakers up fron off the headunit, but i find that you have the loudness from back then just something to fill in at the front. I think its fine, but feel free to dissagree.

in my bravo ive gone got 13cm front door speakers(you need to buy an adaptor for them to fit i think its £10, not sure of the link tho)

a pair of 6x9's on a parcel stealth shelf and a sony cdx-m630 head unit, it cost me 100 quid from my bro.

all in all it cost me 190 quid+ 20 quid for the facia and 10 quid for adaptors.

6x9's = 39.99
from coaxels = 29.99
head unit = 100.00
facia+dummy plate = 20.00
door adaptors = 10.00

hope this helps, il try find the links to the speakers i got as i would reccomend them to to you as they are great.

p.s. if you do decide to go for these speakers, click buy now on the 6x9's and ask him to sell you the 13cm ones for 29.99 and he will put them in the same box and only charge 1 time for shipping

Be careful when buying speakers which claim high wattage, there RMS value is a hell of a lot lower!

well they sound good and are very loud , good bass to. which means i wont pine for a sub till i can afford one:D

yer, the guy said hes got £400-450 to spend thow and he said he wanted a decent sub.

the speakers that u suggested for the front of the car look good thow.

I'd recommend the JBL GT4 range of subs - cos I got one. Excellent value.

I'm also one of those that believe the soundstage should be in front of you and not behind you. My reasoning is this - do you go to a concert and turn your back to the stage?
Its OK to have the sub in the boot however, as bass is omnidirectional. (y)
