okie kokie.
just found out i'm owed some holiday pay from a job i'm finishing next week.. so me wants to buy myself sumfink nice. like a DSLR camera. my dad is after a new camera so if i get a nice new DSLR i may give him my s5600. cos i'm nice like that (sometimes)
Budget is around £300.
Contenders are
Nikon D40/D50/D70(s).
Canon 350D.
Nikon D40.
Pros.
Cheap, can be had for around £270 (with cashback) from Jessops with kit lens.
Small and lightweight (compared to other cameras i've listed).
Has dedicated AF lamp (compared the 350D which uses the flash/strobe).
Better metering than 350D.
kit lens is good.
well built.
Cons.
gotta use AF-S or AF-I lenses for autofocus, meaning lenses are not as easy to source and are so more expensive.
no seperate status LCD.
no DOF preview
not many buttons, so lots of going through menus to change settings etc.
Nikon D50
Pros
Compatible with lots'o'lenses.
erm.. it's good!
Cons.
kit lens aint so hot.
no mirror lockup
no backlight on status lcd.
Canon 350D
pros
image processor very good.
low noise
fast 7 point AF system
cons
no AF lamp.
no spot metering.
controls can be fiddly (compared to D50)
soo.. can anyone help me out here. will go into town when i can and actually use as many of these as possible to see which one feels right to use.
