Re: I spy with my little eye...

anyone going to scan the article in? im interested now.

Stu you should of put mahooosive FF stickers on the car lol like daves one in back window:p
Go and buy the mag, maybe scanning it in isn't a good idea.

Or ask your mum permission to go down to local newsagents, it is on page 72 :p

Pic of the car was taken from the side - so rear sticker wouldn't have worked ;)

Re: I spy with my little eye...

Good idea (y)

You going? Will have a chance to say hi properly, last time at Donny think I was engaged in a discussion with the ex on my mobile

Yeah, will be there but not sure which car yet. Weather wasn't particularly nice at Donny so didn't hang around!

Don't want to be 'orrible, but the tightly packed bit of the spring is normally fitted at the top, helps stop the bottom bit filling up with muck.

edit: Just checked. On a level drive, a standard HP sits just 30mm from the rear bump stops.

A professional place fitted them - http://www.paragonmotcentre.com/ - as used by Evo themselves.

All pics were sent to Cobra, and to Evo - Harry Metcalfe, editorial director of Evo - test drove the car and also pointed out the bumpstop issue.

Yet no one has pointed out they are the wrong way round, until now

Yep, and this is what Evo have stated - the fact the bumpstops now sit so low once lowered.

End of the day, it has been an experience, and nice to be involved in the testing :) just hope the problem does get investigated, looking at a normal Panda may be an option, will look on ePer and check part numbers/variances.

Also interesting that the guy running Eibachs has no revised bumpstops on, although a less of a drop. Looks like Eibach mis-designed them, so don't actually fit - oops

Re: I spy with my little eye...

I'm happy to stand corrected, just that's always the way I was advised to do it and have been fitting them like that for years.
The guys at Paragon had a ponder on this - but I seem to recall there were notches in them, to ensure correct fitting.

To be fair, I have no idea who is right - any feedback is greatly appreciated, and I hope the contact at Cobra is reading this thread :)

Re: I spy with my little eye...

HP, I did not say the Cobras are no good, how can I claim such thing if I have not tested them myself? I just mentioned that the conspiracy revolving certain HP runing cobras - (y)Stu DemonD - has come to an end. Results have been published and there are shortcomings - bumpstops - but there is still hope - Cobra: redesign, please hurry...
Some of us are quite desperate to remove the bouciness from our cars and might not wait until the bumpstop redesign.
Oh, I forgot one thing: we are all jealous it was not us in the mag.

PS.: Somebody please scan the article... here in deep south the july issue will only arive in july:confused: - like three weeks from now...

Re: I spy with my little eye...

Picked up EVO today, shame to hear that the experiment hasn't quite gone to plan, I'd been looking forward to hearing how things were going.

You guys will be interested in next months EVO as there is more 100HP action coming up.

Evo 100HP Cobra suspension report out now

This month's EVO magazine just landed. They've got a review of someone's 100HP with the new supposedly improved Cobra suspension.

Result = resounding fail, Evo says stick with std springs. Cobra ones are worse all round. Car lowered further with new springs and now sitting on bumpstops, no ride quality at all. Did Cobra even test this out?

Re: Evo 100HP Cobra suspension report out now

Oh no spinal implants are on the way, thought Cobra and someone close had nailed it never mind will just have to let more air out of the tyres.

Well, you kinda did here:

At last the old conspiracy is over ;) and we know not to bother to wait for Cobra - shame one could save few $ :(. How many of you might be interested in group buy of KW coilovers? m

:)

Re: Evo 100HP Cobra suspension report out now

oops. Did a quick scan, didn't spot the post.

Pity though innit...

I was just reading through this thread and got to the pictures and thought they were the wrong way round! The only reason I fitted mine the other way round was because that made the Eibach writing the right way up - which I thought made sense???

ok, ok appologies . btw hp, have you got any shares in cobra;)? Just kiding. :p

Stu DemonD, is cobra prepared to further develop this product? How tricky it is to redesign bumpstops?

Re: Evo 100HP Cobra suspension report out now

Cobra have missed an opportunity here to sell loads of suspension kits, the 100 didn't need lowering, however 'cool' it may look. Softer, or more progressive, springs suited to UK roads is what was needed.

The comment in last month's (June) Evo hidden in the Swift Sport long-term report, that the "1.2 (panda's) do better.. at ride and finesse to the handling"
made me wonder how a 100 would perform on other OE panda springs from Fiat, eg the 1.3 mjet has similar kerbweight to the 100. The basic suspension design of all the panda's is the same (except 4x4) so it should be a straightforward job to do!

Anyone fancy trying the other extreme and reporting back ?? !!

Re: Evo 100HP Cobra suspension report out now

I have emailed the Cobra guys yet again, and am awaiting feedback and also whether they want to develop things further, what with it being a "prototype" set.

I am hoping it is just a bumpstop issue, which should be easy to resolve, surely.
