Currently have an o2 branded Thomson router, going onto a new isp now tho. With o2 there is no user name or password used, with my new isp there is.

Apparently its a pain to flash these routers to their proper firmware, so that leaves me stuck.

Estimated speed on my line is 20mb so need a good one, don't need N or gigabit really but if its little impact on cost then Il take it.

Any suggestions?

Over the years I've tried dozens of these things from all manufacturers (up to and including Cisco modular routers) and I can say for home use, get a netgear. Belkins are questionable in reliability terms. Anything from thompson tends to be oem equipment and built to an absolute minimum spec. Linksys is ok but I know a lot of people with horror stories about them dying. The netgears are cheapish, have a very intuitive menu system and don't tend to fail as often as other brands.

I usually use a guy on ebay - "Planet78"

Partly because the stuff isn't too expensive and is decent stuff (think it's mostly end of line stuff), and mostly because he's only just up the road, so save on p&p lol (Oh, and the 99.5% feedback helps lol)

Get a linksys then flash to to use the dd-wrt firmware (y)

when i had cable i had one of them, running tomato firmware :)

BUT i needed an ADSL modem built in.

Got a DG834GT off ebay last night for £18. that'll do.

I have a Netgear DG834G v3 if its of any use to you its yours for the cost of p&p.

If i hadnt bought one last night, your arm would be being snapped off!
