General I need a spare key?

I've got a multi wagon but i only have one key. my wife has a panda and yesterday it would not start but luckily she has a spare so no probs. But its got me worried about mine,does anyone no the cheapest way to get a spare key without getting fleased.

You can some times pick these up on ebay ..but it will still have to be programed at a dealers..so your still at the end of the day going to have to pay for their service..

I have only one key and as if that's not bad enough, the battery is missing and the last owner (who had the car for a year) didn't bother to replace it so I'm not even sure if the remote central locking works. My local dealer 'Ancastor Cars' told me that they'd have to order me a new key against my chassis number for a staggering £189. They also said that even if i bought another spare key from ebay they wouldn't touch it!

how jolly kind of them..I think the other guys have not been treated like that and have had keys reprogramed buy their dealer wherever the key came from..

because the ebay ones are a code 1, code 2 keys have a rolling code and come pre cut from factory

Code 2 keys cant be programmed to different cars.
