I searched all the topics containing reset + ecu, but they all are for petrol vehicles.
I tried
Disconnect the battery for a minimum of 45 minutes. Simply remove the earth side (-) and pull to one side.
When you reconnect the battery and start the car for the first time do NOT rev then engine for 5 minutes. This allows all the postioning motors to go back to default. Once the 5 minutes is up you may stop and restart the car then drive normally.
All the "reset" does is put the positioners such as the IACV back to factory setting.
But it does nothing to a JTD and it's normal it doesn't have IACV.

So how to reset the ECU ?

How do you know it's not working, is there a fault that needs read/ sorted? To be honest I've never noticed much difference when resetting - maybe a little more raw for the first hundred miles but that could be all in my mind

Because i tried it on a 1.6 16v and there is difference each time i reset it.

More likely that on the 1.6 there was an issue that resetting the ecu temporarily corrected.

The ecu has a very small amount of play in it. It can compensate for minor alterations, fitting an air filter or running a higher 0ctane fuel although old ecu's wont compensate much for these petrols etc.
It can in a limited way learn your driving style, resetting it wipes this out. Eg, a car thats been thrashed from day 1 will be slightly more eager than a sedately driven car. But to be fair there are many other reasons for this as cars get coked up etc. :)

the car runs off maps in the Ecu, if you want more power these need remapping.

the diesels don't work like this, and if there is a fault in the ECU's memory, it will still be there after pulling the battery..

The only software with reset option i found is Unidiag KWP2000.
I tried it but the option is not working, there is a new version, i'll try ot asap.
