Since i want to change my standard cover to some nice silver ones i want to remove the covers. But how..

I can't get the glas out:confused: and without that first step removing the cover is impossible.

I used a small teaspoon inserted into the lip (feel around with your fingers and you will find it its at top of mirror) you have to remove the glass by turning it to the left or right (can't remember exact sorry) for it to release, its a total pain but it works.

I changed my mirror covers to red ones follow the Fiat supplied instructions (that make it sound easy but its not really?)

Good luck!

Hi. I use a spatula to prize out the glass from its clips. I tried tilting the mirror back for the first attempt but stopped pulling when I was convinced I was going to break the glass. Then I tilted it forward and tried again with the spatula and it popped out before I got too concerned again. Once the glass is out of its clips you have to carefully detach the electric element connection (if fitted). The you remove the four obvious screws that present themselves. To actually release the mirror cover you have to overcome a number of push clips. I used a flat blade screwdriver to push out the plastic from these clips, but even then the mirror covers can be very reluctant to fully release themselves. It is almost as though one of the clips is not designed to be undone as it will likely crack the plastic in the process. Reversing this with the new covers is relatively easy. This is one of those jobs that really should be a lot easier than it actually is!!!

I also recently changed the mirror covers on mine. They came with instructions from Fiat.
Best ignore them! I tried to find the rotary clip that is supposed to hold the mirror to the mounting, but gave up 20mins of struggle. Remembering this thread, I tried the "pull and pray" method. After a heart stopping crack, it popped off cleanly, without any damage. No sign of the rotary clip system behind the mirror! Also, the instructions didn't mention that 4 out of the 5 clips that hold the cover on are only accessable by removing the 4 cross-head screws behind the mirror!
Easy job, as long as you don't follow the supplied instructions!
