Technical How to make your ariel hard to remove

Well had my 3rd ariel nicked now
So i was wondering on ways to make it harder to nick it

Was thinking of filling the threads up with threadlock and putting it in tight

That would make it hard to remove without a tool

I'd even be tempted to superglue it... -- unless you think that will simply cause the little buggas to bend or break it, instead....

That way, the only way it can be removed is from inside....

Otherwise, maybe replace it with a one-piece aftermarket one...?

:yeahthat: Only problem is if you need to remove the aerial quickly for a carwash or something, but im sure you wouldnt let your car near a carwash ziggy!!

you can also get !"anti theft" aftermarket aerials with little grub screws to prevent them being unscrewed

Either that or fit an internal aerial and blank off the existing, but thats probably a bit drastic!

I was planning on removing it to fill it with Threadlock, then stick it together, bolt it tight with a spanner, so its stupidly hard once its set to remove it again

You may not even need the Threadlock.... When I replaced mine, I sort of accidentally-on-purpose overtightened it. It now needs at least a good pair of pliers to make it budge.... :D

I've just replaced my Ariel today..it must of took me 20 mins to get the thing off. :(
I've replaced mine with a chrome one.. so if anyone wants a standard airiel
They're welcome to it for free.

Had to take it off coz it catches on my garage door :bang:

If you glue it on in some way, when you need to remove it you'll struggle. Also, the little darlings that are nicking it may cause more damage when thwarted. Catch 22?

Does it always disappear when parked in the same area? A p.i.t.a. but you could remove it yourself when parking.

Alternatively, coat it with something sticky. Grease, marmalade, doggy doo, etc. They may not touch it again.

Vaseline - won't do any harm, quite irritating to remove from your skin.
