hi got hold of a grundig changer and leads
which im picking up tmorro for £60

ill prob fit it in the boot or under one of the seats?

will it fit in the glove compartment at all?

either way if it eventually goes somewhere
say th boot( as it seems the most distance)

how do i get th lead from there to the radio side at the front??

Best place for the Grundig CD Changer is under the rear seat. It just fits right in the centre (at the front of the seat).
Fitting it under the rear seats ensures it's out of sight, plus you don't lose bootspace.

As for the lead my Mk 1 already had it fitted. I just had to find it and divert it to the rear seat.
I take it you have a MK 2 so you'll have to start from scratch. Try using this site for the info' you need. Should find it in "audio" or "modding" sections, or just do a Search.

I assure you there's a wealth of good info' to be found on this site, you just have to search it out.

Cheers,
Stuart.

just pull it up, place ur hands down the crevise a the back and pull uo, simple

I often get this problem during playing CDs using the changer-the front panel displays "SURFACE"-does this mean the lens (inside the changer)needs cleaning?

Thanks.

get your own thread? at least peopel wil kn owhat it is about then!

cant the changer fit comfortably in the glovey?

Best under the seat, as in under the rear bench there is a fab small space, not in the rear footwells (just in case). You will see this is the ideal place (in reach of the driver(while stopped),out of sight and out the way of damage from items in the boot! (my friend had a well secured trolley jack in the boot which made a quick job of dismanteling the multichanger (£300 at the time)), also the Grundig is quite big i beleive.

I'll take a pic of the location if you need! you can even leave a flap of carpet to hide the fascia!

Spoony,

I see your reasoning re the glovebox, much easier to run the cable for a start. But depending on which model you have, you'll be lucky to get it to fit in. Plus you lose your glovebox space for anything else.

The concensus on this site seems to be for under the rear seat. Mine fits there without any fittings, guess you'd call it an "interference fit". It's a very stable place too. The Grundig (like most others) can be affected by bumps and suchlike. But since mine has been under the rear seat it hasn't missed a beat. Also, no passenger has ever felt uncomfortable sitting above it.

The thing is can you be bothered to run the cable there? It is by far the best place, seems made for the job. Just takes initial effort, but will be worth it!

Good luck,
Stuart.

Gurjit,

"SURFACE" means your CD's need cleaning! Try it and see.

Stuart.

cheers lads

a pic will be good mate
will wait for that
rear seat seems the best option then

i agree with hte glovey spae not that i need it but it will prob be a bit big

my brothr keeps replyin as well in my other thread

what i need to ask if ok once carpet has been removed, it will easily slot in then all that is needed is 4 bolts to hold it up?
and the cablign is another issue

what im might do is cut a bit of the carpet and use it as a cover plate as well
can i ask ho did you cut the carpet i dont want a bodge joif you know what i mean
also how an i place velcro on the changer and the carpet to act as a hidden place?
