Just out at Classics at the Clubhouse 'aircooled addition'. Only 15 minutes from home, no problem getting here. Parked up with a few 500 mates then went to move the position of the car. Pulled starter lever: a couple of seconds of cranking, then it stopped and the lever went floppy :(

I took the centre console off and undid the bolt holding the lever plate in place but it only moves a bit since the choke cable, at least, is still connected. Phone torch didn't let me see anything useful.

I should be able to get someone to push start me to get home but has anyone any tips on how to check properly and, if necessary, replace the cable?

Ok, the cable is attached at the lever end but in the engine bay there's a gap... New cable required!

Ok, now back home (thanks to a push start from my friends) and with a big light I can now see how it attaches. I'll order a new cable...

Do I need to get underneath the car to route the cable and fit the ends, or what's the best method?
