Hi all
I seem to have mislaid my starter motor for my 500F (as you do). I found a starter motor in bits amongst the parts I purchased some time ago. I didn’t dismantle it so I don’t know if anything is wrong with it. To my untrained eye it looks ok. Can anyone tell me:
A) if anything important is missing.
B) whether I have the bits loosely assembled in the right order
B2) which end I should place the thin steel washer and the fibre washer on (and in which order)
C) whether the contacts need cleaning up or look ok
D Whether the brushes look ok

I will order a rebuild kit and rebuild it sometime but I’d rather not hold up the whole project just for the kit.

Many thanks in advance. Michael

I've only done the job once so I'm not the most reliable source, but I can't think of anything missing. Except for nuts, washers and screws. One of the good things with the 500 is that everything is simple. If it looks like you have enough parts, you probably do.

Thank you. I had read your thread on this and it was helpful. I have found a friend who has one that seems to need a new switch, so I will put this switch on his and hopefully it will work. I can then rebuild this with new bits at my leisure.
