Technical How often does your DPF regen?

Just curious on normal DPF regen behaviour? Before buying the van I thought it was every few 1000 miles but appears its not
Most usage is long drives, maybe gentle.

Average distance between regens is 285km
Average duration is regen is just under 10 mins.

So its done 37 regens in 6000km

Normal?

Probably of little assistance to you, but as nobody else has replied......

2008 Zafira with 1.9 CDTi, Fiat sourced engine.
230,000km believed to be original DPF.
Average is 750km between regens, this can increase to 1000km on a steady motorway trip across Europe, or decrease to 500km with a lot of low speed town driving.

How do know when its doing a regen ? i know on mine in traffic you can hear the fan going and its a bit cherky on accelaration

OBD - MultiECUScan tells you by asking the engine ECU

I've had the fans on max a couple of times and wondering why - guess it was that!

Never had any lights/messages saying it was doing it.

On the Zafira it activates the rear screen heater to increase the load on the engine. I wired a small Led into the rear screen heater that illuminates when a regen takes place.
