Not looking for sympathy or anything, I was driving like an asshole but I learnt the hard way hah. :p

It's all fixed now but this was major damage.

I needed new anti roll bars, new back axle, new steering rack, 2 new alloys, there was a bit of damage to the body work and lots more.

Don't handbrake turn in slippery car parks or this happens! (stupid curb).

Ye, new drums. They came with the axle tho as they were from a spare car.

because, obviously, 5 door punto's aren't cool enough already!

How old are you, out of interest?:)

nice one liam! just lucky u got parents to bail you out lol. if that was me id have no car until i got the money to repair it.

Nice bend...however, hb turns are limited to stable and planted cars...and punto is not one. I know, since I've driven it for long enough to realize its completely unpredictable. It holds the road like my cat holds to icy surfaces....ie, not at all. Almost got reared the other day by a punto....stopped as I saw a pedestrian on a road crossing... was going about 40 kmh, tapped the brakes and tipo coasted to a slow easily.... while in the rear wiev mirror I saw a punto braking with abs on from the same 40 kmh....and barely stopping out of my rear bumper. So moral of the story... dont drive punto's. At least not 2 gen. I had two of them... both ended up crashed in the side of the road....going really slow. Moral of the story - they are simply unpredictable and real poor handling as it is.... let alone doing hb turns with them.

Dont know what youre talking there mate, mine holds the road like a train holds a railroad :slayer:There are some corners Ive learned and cannot resist to make the tyres squeek a bit :D But it does 'jump' a little in those moments, I think cause roads are not that well here and it is a Punto not a road rage :D
It is on Novitec springs dough, lovered
Tyres are nothing special, cheapest new 'good' ones I could find, Tigar Hitris in front and Uniroyal rallye rain tyre in the back, rims are 14'' :(
Heres a pic of mine, lowered, and friends, factory ones...guess which is which :p

I am talking from my exp here, I ve driven quite a lot of the cars and punto is..well, unpredictable. All is well while it being driven passive, no drifting or side slides.... But as soon as u start to slide it around, it gets erratic..
Simply put dynamic stability is around zero... what have they done to it..I do not know. My 128 handled way better then punto mk2, it was like driving a toy... a real joy to slide around in one of these. No pun intended, but making tires squeak a bit is not really taking it to the extreme...it seems to me that u were driving it safe well within limits...to everyone his own off course, nothing wrong with that.

Also, what engine u have inside? Mine was a modified 1.6lt turbo.... I would reckon that also makes quite a difference...

I've found exactly the opposite IMO. I push mine to absoulte limits and its more predictable than my Alfa 156 was. There is quite a bit of understeer going into corners and then lift off oversteer if you time it right you can corner really quick  :slayer:. Im talking about the MK2b Sporting which has quite a 'sporty' suspension setup.

I do know what you mean though a less experienced driver could get caught out by these handleing characteristics with nasty consequences :(.

As for the original post, we all make mistakes and you learn from them. Hopefully the £'s will teach that lesson for you :p.

I did a stupid thing once in my first car (a 5door 1.2 8v mk2 Punto ). I did a handbrake turn at 65mph on a country road next to a river  . The car span 3 times and I stopped by a build up of grass and mud that stopped me hitting a boulder . Lukily no damage what so ever so I got of really lucky and a lot wiser :).

I'm affraid youre right, but I'm 29yo in few days and thats enough for me...on public roads...and I dont have a chance to drive it on a race track...I'm affraid to push the limits on roads in my country cause out of nowhere can a hole in which you can put your leg upto your knee appear...and if in that moments i was skidding....you get the point

I have 1.2 16V

So ok, I agree, you could be more experienced, but the way you said it sounded like its the wors suspension out there....128 is better? C'mon...its a bigger car with less bhp and McFerson (you spell it like this? maybe its better, dunno)

haha.. i have a 5 door too :( i hold my hands up. Alot easier for me though :)

Yeah ur right, u learnt the hard way. Tbh i dont get why people do it in the first place?
I mean, you want ur car to look nice, and u spend money on it all the time (whether u realise it or not) and to smash it up, by hand breaking... well least u know it was a dumb ass idea, and wont do it again hey :)
