Halfords want to charge me £65 for fitting my headunit and auto changer!!!!

Is a bit different from the £9.99 the lad told me in the shop for fitting the headunit

couldnt see a stereo being that hard to fit, ive fitted a few my self including a dvd one with seperate screen and that only took me about two hours (that was with adding bits of wire chopping other bits)

do it your self any we will guide you how too when you get stuck

sammi its no biggie.what brand is it?
autochangers generally are one cable affairs so its a case of routing the cable to where your mounting it.
as for the HU its a mounting plate and ISO adapter

its a pioneer one, me and my bro fitted it in my last bravo but there were loads of wires and was struggling to get it to fit in the gap at the back it kept pushing out.

I said i would give my bro £20 if he will help me again with it.

have fitted a few in my cars, a little smoke and sparks later they where all sounding great

i had trouble putting the sony one in the punto as there was loads of wires, but i taped them all up and managed to get it to fit perfect that way

IIRC the pioneers have an earth to body connection and a live plus the changer cable.

Nah, i did mine myself (you must know by now how useless i am with things like that!) after people kept saying it was a doddle - i needed some wire help, so came on here, got bit of a hand, and got it fitted in 10 mins at most!
I noticed too that there is little space in the back due to the wires so was a little difficult getting the HU in there - but just fiddle about with them a bit, followed by a good push, and it will just click in for you!

No it wont... this is the first headunit I have had trouble with. There are tons of wires in the back. When I got my coupe Brickfoot fitted it for me when he did the DV and he had trouble getting it in. Took ages. The connecting up is the easy part, its the sliding it in. It sticks out a few mm. When we did it the first time and pushed the stereo in as hard as we could the whole thing went dead!!! A wire had come loose so had to start again. Still couldnt get it in so took it to local fitters to see if they could do any better. They told me they had done it, went to the car and it was sticking out slightly, so made them do it again and they were a couple of hours! I fitted the amp, speakers etc. I am just scared of breaking the bloody thing. The old pioneer, amp etc was a doddle. This one is a pain in the ass

The Alpines come with a ton of wires as do the Pioneers, I've fitted both.

I take it space is tight at the back of Bravo's and Coupe's then?

There is hundreds of space at the back of the Cinq's, maybe you should get one!

I never offered to fit the stereo because you said you could do it yourself

I can, its the getting it in thats the trouble. I did mention it to you to help but you said that you wouldnt want to try or something to that extent a while ago. Thats why I was going to get to get that auto electrician to do it and you didnt say anything against it

Anyway your sometime would probably be another year or so

Like i said i will get mark to help, or i will leave him to it

Pah, fitting these into bravo/a's is easy. Try fitting one in an MG ZS Now thats a PITA! You just need to get your hand/arm right up behind and pull the wires through gently.
