First how much does it take to fill a 19td multi and how big is the tank if no one has recently filled up and i get 38.7 miles to gallon i was lookin at some forgin thing saying you add 20per cent to this to get a readin is this true :)...... Thanks for readin this any quotes welcome

I believe the Multi has a 65 litre tank, as regards the fuel consumption figures - Yeah, I've seen something that reckons it uses a litres to US Gallons which accounts for the pessimistic readings.

By the figs i added up i put 75 pound through my tank and it only takes it to 3quaters and thats at a shell garage 128.9 that only thing thats makin me wonder on how much and size as it dont seem right 75should be fillin it up

My handbook (for an 04 round nose) says 65 litre tank including a reserve of 7 litres. Same for petrol and diesel versions.

You can get more than the handbooks say into most cars because the manufacturers figures don't include the expansion space that they have to allow for.

My old 02 had a problem, I filled it with unleaded, long story short, round to my ex-employer, fitters put a giZmo on it and pulled it through into a tank, when repaired the nearest garage was less than one minute away, when drained and sorted I put £85 diesel up~the~neck in it.

That was two years ago .. .. my point .. .. .. today's prices maybe .. .. .. £100 ;)

Pete,
divide £75 by £1.289 (good price by the way) and you get just over 58 litres so if you were low it might not show as full.
Capacity isn't the issue (as long as you haven't got a leak), consumption is!

Cheapest in east london that i found so far still lookin get paid friday so i am gonna just see how much it takes to fill up as i rag my multi and still get 39.8 on todays reading

I can't understand why people fill the tank, I just put in £20 or £25 or whatever I need, otherwise you are carrying about unnecessary weight which affect your fuel economy.

Range... because stopping for fuel is so boring, and a lot of people do loads of miles, 75 litres - the amount our car took from "fuel required" last time... might only last a week...

Quizzo - couple of good reasons to fill your tank rather than keep topping up.

If you get find fuel at a good price, it makes sense to fill up.

Having a fuller tank gives you more options on where you fill up, this can make the difference between getting robbed at a motorway service station or being able to comfortably get to a cheapie.

Air space in your fuel tank isn't ideal, more air means more potential for condensation.

The difference between a half a tank and a full one is slightly less than 60lb, which really ain't going to dent your fuel economy. Having your tyres under-inflated by a couple of PSI would do much worse long term.

The other reason to keep toped up is it dont cost as much and as i agree with others on here startin and stoping a engine costs money and with prices riseing i dont have to rush to fill lol

Well I agree that it makes sense filling up if you are going to use it in a weeks driving, I reckon I'm doing the same thing, £20/£25 lasts me a week of two, I use my motorbike as well as the car.
