Was just wonderin about this. For the past week I have been driving around in my 1.6 Bravo and have not taken it above 2,000 rpm except in 5th, but have not gone any faster than 40 seen as though I have only been going to work and back. Then today I went on the motorway and kept it between 70-90, the engine did feel loose and did sound better afterwoods. So is it good for the engine to be driven hard every once in a while? btw its jus doen 72,000 miles

dunoo bout looseness and engine. I do know my bravo has been the one gearing me on to run the engine at higher and higher revs. No other car ever made me do this.

I used to change gear between 1.5 & 2K, until driving my hgt, which made me feel like it would slap me if I kept on shifting in that manner.

I think the justification (Toms reasoning if I'm not mistaken) is that changing gear at low revs can place much more stress on your gears than changing at high rate of turnover, which does actually make sense when you think about it.

The rev limiter on the 1.6 is 7500 so i dont think ur gonna damage it a good hard run burns off the crappy build up in the engine

So i have heard...Fiat/Italian engines are meant to be revved...

I know the power doesn't even start to 'come in' until about 2.8k rpm (3.5k before cams), on my HGT...

If you weren't supposed to rev 'em them why would they sound so great at 5000 rpm plus. :)
