Hi there. I've done a quick search to no avail so sorry if this is a regular question

Looking at getting a 2004 Active mk3 for my sister. How many keys do they come with new? Is it 2 or 3? Also are there certain colours I need to get, or can Fiat cut another from any key?

How much roughly do Fiat charge for a replacement.

Also, do the Active spec come with central locking?

Many thanks.

Jon.

Active spec has non-remote central locking in Ireland at least. Two keys, obviously no fob ones due to the above!

All keys from then are blue, any replacements will be black but the colour means nothing different these days. The code card to get replacements cut is unlikely to come with the car as its the UK - Fiat retain it (whereas he we get it in a wee envelope in the handbook pack).

So getting one cut by Fiat should be no problem then? Just turn up it car and logbook etc and they'll send off for one?

TBH I didn't think there was to much of a problem with there only being one key, as I thought they were easier to get than the mk1 Puntos where you have to have a blue key or something like that.

Going to see what sort of a bargain she can get (I can get for her) Just hoping this looks worse in the pics than it actually is http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=140297848336&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=004

Might see how approachable the seller is to offers also. Anything I need to look out for on the Active spec guys

Many thanks again (y). Jon.

Active is slower and can use more juice.go for the 1.2..;)

Just a suggestion Jon,

If you have the contacts to travel or transport these may be of use - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=250366054475&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=015

Then your sister will have 4 virtually brand new tyres, and the best of what's on the car for a spare (saves having one of those space saver thingies)

You might want to be prepared to spend @£15 for a locking fuel cap - yep they are not standard.

I ordered a replacement key from my local fiat dealer, £124 + VAT! Not much choice though, as has already been mentioned the keys can't be programmed by your average cobbler!

I agree about the locking fuel cap as well, what were fiat thinking!?

Clearly the accountant had his say, as he did with the boot light :bang: :bang:

My personal pet hate is doing the tyre pressure on the spare, I have come from a 4x4 where the spare is on the back and instant access to the valve.
Now it's empty the boot, remove the cover, remove the toolkit and lift out the wheel because the valve is underneath :bang: :bang:

Boot light not to much of a fuss. Mum's Y-reg Yaris hasn't even got one. Neither have our mk2's.

Spare wheel sounds like a pain :(

I'm still shocked about the key. I knew they wern't cheap, but thought the non-remote keys were nearer £65 inc VAT :(

Oh well. Sister had better not loose the key. Previous owners details will be on the V5 so could contact them asking if they have the other key still.

Thing is though it's not like you have to check the spare as often as the other tyres. Mind you I must admit to never checking it if i'm honest!

With regard to the locking fuel tank i've never worried about it. It's got an anti-syphon on it so I guess the only potential issue is if someone decides to fill your tank up with curry powder, so I guess i'm taking chances on that one!

That's it. Noing my luck that would happen. Some real buggars around my college, and that would be just my luck in the 5 weeks I'd be driving it before giving it to my sis.

Can the locking caps be brought from eBay

No problem, or you could contact Chris@souls here :D :D

Who  Is he a Fiat worker then?

Can someone also confirm that I'm correct in thinking that whole whole mk3 Panda range from 53 plate comes with ABS, just I've asked the seller about the lights on the dash and they recon the car hasn't got ABS.

Also, what happens with the airbag light when the ignition is switched on? Does in come on and then extinguish, or come on and flash little and then extinguish?
