Ah, I was thinking of the potential replacement having autochoke. That would make life easier once fitted and working. The current one has lost the cable end anchor clamp too by the sound of it .In original post he was asking about the choke on dash board, having said that it has got a different engine in it from original, so maybe a photo would help.
Fitting a different carb with auto choke beyond op skills. Afaik auto choke never option for 999cc or 1.1 fire engine.
Goodness knows where the op is going to find a good used or new carb for engine . Even though SA carried on using carbs way past Europe
