For every car ive had upto now ive went straight out and bought a k & N induction kit! priced one up for my car this time and it was £110 thought ok ill have a look about first and see if i can find it cheaper, now i knew that k&n do the filters on there own but never really taken much notice, this time i did and relised that you can get a half descent cone for £19.99, so i looked up the cold air feed pipe and it was £11.75. so how come there charging 110 this is just day light ****in robbery, it basicly meens that K&N are pricing the cold air feed at 90 squid!!!!!!!!

ouch holy cr*p that alot just for the feed, i wonder why people pay £110 for it, cause too many people do

What's a "descent cone"?

Why waste your money on an aftermarket air filter, not designed by the car manufacturer, to replace the one designed to give optimum performance?

yer origonal ones also have to be quite so its best to get a fully inclosed one like a bmc or viper

Re filter

Can anyone tell me the advantage of having a K&N filter? Does it save fuel or what, I need to replace my filter so any answers would help me, Thanks in advance

Re: Re filter

iirc,

they increase your fuel consumption! which isn't that good really

re filter

So in your opinion, stick to the original? Been looking at the threads, It seems a lot to pay for a filter

Define "descent cone". Is it one that just 'luks kewl' or one that actually filters well and won't screw up your engine?

Numerous people I know have experienced better performance with a K&N air filter. It's not going to save you money though. It's improving performance by letting more air in to your engine which in turn wants more fuel to produce more power. So don't buy one to improve fuel consumption.

And i'm not talking about an extra 30 bhp or anything ridiculous. It will just make the car feel a bit more responsive. There aren't many standalone mods that give huge power increases.

re filter

Thanks for the info mates. Stick to the Fiat one I think

K&N filter for the 1.8 I can easily not recommend. Soon as I took it off, fuel consumption improved and the car feels more lively.

Pile 'o crap I'm afraid.

how can you say that the filter designed for the car will give optimum performance when the 2.0 uses the same one as a 1.2? i changed mine and top end performance was changed from 132 to 140. on the larger engines i personally feel that it restricts it

The filter boxes are all slightly different, its just the same filter element.

have been getting poor mpg lately could this have anything to do with the K&N panel filter i have fitted?
