Hi there,

Can anyone tell me how to reset or disable the car alarm.

We park our 2005 Multipla for weeks at a time without using it, and this has been fine, however this winter the battery packed up for good, and we fitted a brand new Fiat original replacement. All is good again, however.....

The Alarm now arms itself whenever you close the doors (even if you don't lock the car with the remote or the key), so say you are unloading the shopping and go back to the unlocked car to get the last bag, the alarm goes off when you open a door........

Can anyone tell me how to reset system back to :

1. Alarm only arming when car locked via key or remote
or
2. just disable / switch off alarm altogether as the alarm does drain the battery over time when the car is not used for a long time.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Many thanks,

Noted that you used a Fiat battery, was this dealer fitted or did you fit yourself?
If the dealer fitted it, I'd have a chat with them as it's common practice to feed 12 volts from another source whilst the battery is being replaced, this negates the need to have the radio code, etc and the ECU re-learning all the parameters.
I've never heard of the self-arming alarm feature, but it may well be user configurable by setting the ignition key to aux/mar and entering number sequences on the radio.
Have you run through the set-up menu on the trip computer?

P.S. Are you near Bury St.Ed's/Thetford?

Hi,

The battery was replaced by Fiat in Italy, and they just took the old one and put the new one on. All was fine.

The problem with the alarm occurred after the battery was completely flat for a few weeks in Nov/Dec. The car was started by the RAC and all good, (i.e. no error codes or anything). The next day we discovered the alarm was now arming/setting itself, and

The RAC had advised that we have a new battery fitted which we had fitted the next day, in Italy.

After new battery fitted alarm problem persisted.

I have not tried anything to reset or switch off alarm, and any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Many thanks,

Hi were you able to disable the alarm? We have a broken fob butthe alarm is set so we cannot use the car at all

I have the same problem. I just bought an 04 multipla and the battery had been left to run down. Now whenever I close all the doors the alarm arms itself after about 10 seconds. The previous owner had disabled the movement sensor and I reattached it hoping it might help but no change.

Anyone with any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. I don't have the original radio so if it has anything to do with entering codes on it then I'm stuffed.

HI
I have exactly the same problem. Did anyone find a solution to this?
I know my main dealer can probably sort it out but I could do with keeping my costs down.

Many thanks

I had some problems with my 01 multi alarm. I unplugged both connectors and threw it in the garage. Problem solved!
