Hi,

I'm just trying to take out the old heater matrix so I can it the new one.

Ive removed the carpet sheild from behind the battery and I now neded to disconnct the hoses themselves, but they are attached with what asume are the riginal factory fitted clips.

How do I get these off - is there a simple way or do I just tug on the hoses???

Thanks all!

Ok, thanks very much.

Do I grab the black plastic bit with the pliers and twist or try and get a grip on the part actually around the pipe?

Just asking as I dont want to damage the hose itself.

Cheers

There are 2 kinds of clips there. The black plastic ones (which just support the pipes) can be carefully popped apart with a screwdriver and re-used. The metal ones are a sort of hose clamp/jubilee clip and have to be opened up with pliers, pincers, a screwdriver or whatever works, after that, you can just pull the hoses off.

All the action should take place on the clips, not the hoses!

I've recently done thae same job as your undertaking and I replaced the clips with Jubilee typre clips. Just gave me piece of mind that they would be ok. Need to do the same with my radiator bottom hose now as its started weeping!!!

Thanks for all the advice guys, job done now.

Took about an hour all togther, but I'm glad I got the car going and checked for leakes before putting everything back as the new jubilee clips on the inlet and outlet hose needed tightening.

So glad I didnt take it to a garage - thanks to you guys and Haynes Ive saved at least £50 I reckon.
