Just wanna know how to pull the standard system on a bravo. Haven't tried yet, but I dont want to then mess up the dash and the system just incase I want to put it back in.

Anyone know?

not a serious answer but

my good lady wife found out the best way to remove the stereo in my 200SX Turbo. She waited until we were on a dual carriadge way, about to come into a roundabout, then at 5,000rpm decided to floor the go pedal instead of the stop pedal. Imagine the surprise on my daughters face from her kiddy seat as the stereo shot from the dashboard past her right ear and ended up on the parcel shelf once we had stopped using the previously untried method of the back end of a Pug 309!

Your best bet though is to go to Fiats, bung the geezer a fiver and ask him to pop the stereo out, it is much better than buggering around yourself and knackering the dash.

Here is how....

Get a couple of feeler guages or something similar, and on the bottom left and right hand sides of the unit simply slide them in - they will push in the clips and the unit will slide out

I can get one out in about 5 seconds from getting in the car.

re-entering the code?

do u have to enter the code for the stereo when u take it out? or is it still connected to the mains?

Codes and the right way to get the radio out

First codes....If the unit says SAFE then you will need the code if you disconnect the supply. If it says CODE then you won't need it.
Pulling it out... There are four "L" shape clips that latch into the roof and floor of the opening But you get at them from the sides. A tool like a penknife is good. Do the floor fixings first by sliding in the side about 10mm up from the bottom and lift against the spring "L" whilst pulling the unit (use the cassette opening) You will feel it move forward very slightly, which is enough to disengage. Then do the roof fixings by sliding the tool about 5mm from the top and push down on the "L" while levering at the cassette opening.

Good story

Nigel,
Good story mate - but your advice is poor. I had my car into the dealer to get the code renewed and they made a complete mess of my dash - then had the cheek to say it had been there all along.

Anyone know of a good way to remove gouges from the dash?

One more clip

There's another clip in the middle of the top edge of the crack between the stereo and the fascia that needs to be pushed down if you want to get it out just that little bit easier... at small flat-bladed screwdriver can operate this one. The feeler guages / paring knives on the sides will then do the trick easily.

No, two - sorry

Use the back edge of two thin-bladed knives (e.g. paring knives or feeler gauges) and slide them into the crack between the front fascia and the rest of the dashboard, on each side of the head unit about 2cm from the bottom, to lift up the locking arms. Once you have started to prise the unit out a millimetre or two, you can use a flat bladed screwdriver to depress the spring catches beneath two small slots you will find behind the top of the fascia about 1cm in from the edges. Now you can easily and pull the unit all the way out.

Pfft

I used 2 screw drivers one left one right, bend and pop no damage and one brand new fiat radio for your own car! I mean you now have a hole for your new radio.
