My cars fuel consumption is about 30 mpg and I dont think that too good - I need to know where these resistor chips that people buy from people claiming that they are superrchips that add 50bhp lol for £2 on ebay. The reason why I htink this is that the previous owner had started modifying it by twin cat back system and dodgy max power airfilter. So may be they had bought one of these I know its a long shot in the dark but its worth a try isnt it???

Also my car is Punto MK2B/3 Active Sport 16v with a duplex cat back exhaust system.

you would just have to look around for it near the throttle body lookingfor taped up wiring excetra

people that buy those 2 pence resistors for pounds then solder them to there car should get a smack over the back of there heads

you should be looking at something like 44mpg average

keep it! +492bhp?!?! i want one myself. I know there only £2 and all, but money may be an issue for me (when it comes to the repairs for damage its caused, that is) ;)

Yeh as pip says, near the TB, there should be an airflow sensor.... it will be inline with that.

Does still sound like a longshot tho... engine not running rich? (lots of exhaust smoke?)

When did you last have an emissions (MOT?) test done? If the Lambda sensor is knacked, it'll affect the mpg.

Also, make sure your thermostat isn't tired. The car should warm up inside about 5 miles this time of year and hold a middle temp on the gauge. If it cools down on the open road and only warms up when stationary, your 'stat needs a change. A "cold" engine gets a richer mix' from the ECU.

easy, follow the smell of burning wires.,lol., going from the sound of the previous owner the fact that its drinking petrol could be due to him ragging it to bits, have it servised and see if they come up with anything.,
