Following on from my last post in this thread I now need to gain access behind the glovebox to try and sort out the alarm problem. The only manual I have is the Peter Russek Pocket Mechanic which has no information on the bodywork at all. My model is a '02-plate Ducato 10 with a 1.9TD XUD engine, one of the last mechanically-injected models.

It looks as if I have to remove the entire dash cowl. There are two screws below the glovebox, one in the back of the glovebox and a hexagon socket screw at each end. Are these all that need to be removed to detach the entire upper cowl?

Alternatively, if I remove the two screws at the bottom of the lower panel will that detach and can I get reasonable access through there?

If anyone has any information on how these panels are removed, or exploded diagrams, I'd be extremely grateful.

Ok, belay that last post! I've found out how to get the lower panel off and located the alarm unit. That didn't help much as it's completely sealed with a wiring loom coming out and no way of identifying the functions of the wires.

However I think I've found the problem anyway. By chance I removed the alarm door switch on the sliding door and found it broken. When I removed the remnants and isolated the wire the problem went away. I had to take off the pillar trim to recover the remnants which involved unbolting the seatbelt. It looks like I just need to get a new switch and all will be well.

Hi fenman, just read your post and wondered if you have ever taken the glovebox out, I need to remove mine desparately to get at burned wiring.
I've removed all 3 screws & the bolts just above the relays, it just won't budge, any ideas?
Thanks Gerry

Hi Gerry,

I sold my van 6 months ago so can't help I'm afraid. Hopefully someone else will be able to. I hope you get it sorted.
