How do I change the lock barrel in fuel cap?

I have bought a new fuel cap as the current one was faulty. What I need to know is how do I remove the old lock barrel from the old cap so that I can fit it to my new one?

I'm looking at the new cap and cannot see a way of taking it apart.

Please help.
