closest thing to a imp is a fiat 126 as far as i know, i have driven both cars
they are great little cars erm a guy i knew james he races them and they a bloody quick!!!

I 'raced' a fully tuned stripped out '69 Imp with my mother's Rover 214. He only beat me by screaming up to the redline in first, cos the road from the traffic lights went back into single lane less than 50 yards after the lights (my mother was also in the car, so I took it easy) I didn't want to tempt fate by saying at it going into the single lane, so I just let him past. Gave him a shock on the following roundabout though!

Imp are brilliant, i looked at getting a singer chamois (a posh imp) a few years back, not that fast but are quite tunable

I think the imp engine,was used as a basis for the old Coventry Climax F1 engine.They used two banks on a common crank to give a V8 configuration,Imps where popular for tuning due to their high reving nature.I nearly inherited a 68 Imp from my Bro who promised it it to me .For my 17th birthday.But he sold it instead.

well my unlce has one and wants rid but wants to keep it in the family if u know what i mean, and i maybe could have it, but i know id wreck it and i wouldnt want to, cos i love them. but i really would like it when i drive but i wouldnt like the of people laughing at it.

My dad had one until quite recently put out 110bhp, quick car! would have been even quicker but to make it turn in to go around corners you have to put weight over the front wheels so it had a sand sock in the front bumper and two lumps of lead bolted into the boot floor
i like imps to, not many around these days. last time i saw one was a month ago in morrisons preston docks petrol station- it had been hadn painted brown (brushstrokes, dribbles)

Fiat 850 - both in saloon and coupe guise. Similar size body and engine, rear engine layout and can be tuned to be quite rapid. Trying to find a decent one will be a problem though...

There is someone's Dad on this very forum who knows a thing or two about not only building quick Imp's but competing and winning in them.
He also has a Clan Crusader which is an Imp based kit car that also had some success at rallying in its day and is in process of being rebuilt.
