i doubt any of that will ever happen or even if it's true, seen loads of similar things that go viral on the internet and nothing comes of them.

to a point, yes.
we should still make an effort to be seen/heard.
i always think ahead and try and predict what cars will do, move nearer the white line when i see a car approaching a junction for them to see me easier and to give me more time to react should they pull out, and obviously if you have hi-vis gear on you'll be seen easier, if you have a loud pipe on they'll hear you coming.
