Technical Hi there everyone

if you take it to fiat, they can hook it up to a machine and tell you whether or not the power steering is knackered, plus they can tell you if you have any other problems with the car

Thanks Gaz, I dont suppose you have any idea if/how much they charge you for the priveledge?

well, got all me wires run now, all tested apart from the amp wiring. That'll have to wait till next weekend though, as will the speakers, when i can get some mdf for the rears.

Thanks for the help

Dale

i think they charge about £45, let them tell you whats wrong with it then go get it done somewhere else

just to check, have you run 3 leads to the amp, 1 power, 1 RCA, 1 Remote turn on oh and an Earth to somewhere on the car body

£45 quid to plug a socket in, then tap a few buttons on a keyboard? Well, **** i suppose its about what i charge! lol

On the amp front, yes mate, main power with a 60 amp fuse in it, the RCA, remote and the earth, which i terminated on the same bolt as holds the rear cluster on. It looked a pretty good earth to me, but if you have another suggestion which will be better. im all for listening

Thanks for checking though

As an aside, im thinking of putting an in-line switch into the power cable to make sure the fecker turns off. Any comments on this way of doing things? I like to be able to make sure something is off when i want it to be. I know the remote should work but well, i wanted a switch for something :)

im not the one to speak to about proper wiring :D

i have managed to blow up my ecu with dodgy wiring and have melted many a switch:(

i would imagine it it easy though, just cut wire and put switch in, the remote would always turn it off though, if the H/U is wired through the ignition or if you take your face of the H/U

I used that earth too, just make sure its touching bare metal and bare metal only as I had a lot of trouble with my amp when i put it to paint work or plastic

lol @ your proper wiring :)

i'll make sure i go to work on the surrounding paint before i connect the amp up then. We'll see how the switch goes, it supposed to be a 40 amp one, so hopefully i wont kill it.

I cant get my H/U to go off with the ignition though, which has been confusing me. I've got a sony one, and i've tried swapping the red and yellow wires around etc, etc, but it wont turn off unless i hold the off button down, or remove the face

I shall be doing my best not to nuke the ECU though - nice action on your behalf :D

I just found this:

900 S and SX (39 bhp) and 1100 Sporting (54 bhp): 5 speed gearbox. Rear wash wipe, side impact beams, radio cassette. SX has body colour bumpers and mirrors, elec front windows, split fold rear seat, sunroof, centre console, tinted glass. Sporting has alloy wheels, sports seats, fog lamps, RDS audio; optional Abarth sport pack and air conditioning. Options on all models include airbag, PAS, ABS.

and from reading other articles, I dont think the first run of seicentos came with power steering, mine has wihich is a '99 V, so maybe it was an optional extra

I have an early sei, S-plate. Definatly no PAS. But you dont really need it, they steering weighs next to nought anywhoo.

These will help anyone needing power steering.

lol nice one, thanks for the clarification on that one guys. I just wanted to know if it were knackered or not :) Least i can spend the cash on other, more tasty things. Like maybe a powerflow exhaust :D

I guess it gives more feedback through the steering wheel than you guys with pas :p ;)

Its all good, right im off to leeds. 2 hours down the motorway, get in there

I thought PAS was standard in all Sei's, but not all Cinqs.

btw, I have a '99 V Sei SX, with PAS.
